Community Involvement

Outreach

Families created warm tie-blankets to be donated to the needy.

Epiphany people have a proud tradition of supporting the community, both locally and globally.  Our community has continuously supported many ecumenical and other local outreach projects by volunteering at and fundraising for the NEAR foodshelf, Feed My Starving Children, Loaves and Fishes soup kitchen, Habitat for Humanity, and more. We donate funds or materials through a “Giving Tree”, Episcopal Community Services (ECS) and UTO (United Thank Offering).

2010 Open Sing - Vivaldi's GloriaSince 2004, the Church of the Epiphany has raised funds for a variety of non-profit agencies by hosting open choral sings of classical compositions. This signature event features a volunteer orchestra and hundreds of singers for a four-week series each July. Attendees donate money for the opportunity to sing masterpieces by the likes of Brahms and Vivaldi with 100 percent of the donations going to organizations such as the National Alliance on Mental Illness, Habitat for Humanity and the Emergency Foodshelf Network.

After the 2006 General Convention declared the Millennium Development Goals of the United Nations to be the top mission priority of the Episcopal Church, Epiphany embraced the challenge. The Epiphany community pledged to support two MDG goals, to End Poverty and Hunger and to provide Universal Education by partnering with the Miguel Angel Asturias Academy, a grade school in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. With just three of ten children reaching 9th grade, Guatemala has one of the most challenged education systems in Latin America. The Asturias Academy serves 300 children of varying backgrounds in kindergarten through grade 12, and continues to expand. Members of Epiphany contribute funds, donate materials and have sent missioners to the school. One of our members was the on-site development director of the school.

Epiphany has also worked with churches or non-governmental organizations in Liberia, Rwanda and India, and is always open to new opportunities.
