Love a fun challenge? Love to help people? Well, here's your chance to enjoy both! Every Sunday
in March, stop by the table on your way out of church and guess how many pieces of candy are in
the jar. If you get the closest guess, you get ALL the candy! $1 per guess. All proceeds go to the
NEAR Food Shelf. Take a guess today!

The March Food Share Drive is upon us!! As you can see by the display in the narthex, the
food shelf (for us, NEAR) can get much more food than you can for your dollar, so food is good
but money is even better. Please make a notation in the memo line of your check for NEAR or
food shelf when donating to Epiphany. The food shelves are especially needy at this time of year
because they want the shelves to be full by the time the kids are out of school and not getting
free/reduced price breakfasts and lunches. Our goal this year is $1600 in cash and 200 pounds of
food. Be a hero to someone and help with a donation--thanks! Outreach

Did you know that the largest Liberian contingent in the United States lives in Minnesota??
Many people who have come here have come under the Deportation Emergency Deferral (DED),
which expires March 31. These people work here, often in health care in nursing homes as nursing
assistants. Under DED, they are considered non-resident aliens, so they do not have a green card,
and can not become US citizens. With a non-resident alien status, once they leave the US, they
cannot automatically return, thus someone who comes into the US under the DED cannot return
home for a visit or an emergency. Please contact your senators, congress representatives, and the
president before March 31 to let them know 2 things: 1) the DED needs to be renewed and
extended (in the past, these renewals have been for a year or more); and 2) the Liberian people
have become good members of our community and country and their status needs to be changed
to resident aliens so they have access to acquiring a green card and an opportunity to become a
citizen of the United States. Several members of Epiphany are from the Liberian community. You
are welcome to discuss this with them. Thanks for helping our community!!
